On sunday last theCaptain's Drive In took place in the club. Men's Captain Liam and LadiesCaptain Kitty took to the tee at 1.30pm and launched two drives up the fairway tokick start the 2010 golfing season. This was followed by a 9 hole mixedfoursome which was won by Jackie and Jim Kirwan. At the presentation whichfollowed both Captains wished all the members a happpy and successful yearsgolf. Liam Daniels also expressed his, and the members sympathy to the Crottyfamily at the passing of Dick Crotty last week. Dick was a most popular memberof the club, liked by all who knew him and will be sadly missed in the future.
Over last weekendthe 4th round of the home alliance was also held. Scoring was closer that inprevious rounds and Michael Power claimed first position with 22 pointsnarrowly beating Lal Holden who had the same score. Round 5 of the Alliance will be held this coming weekend.
Deise Golf Winter
Opens
Competition details and date are now posted in all
club participating in the Deise Golf Winter Opens. This competition which is now
in its third year re starts in Carrick-on-Suir following the christmas break
from Monday 25th January to Sunday 31st January. The entry fee this year is
€15.00 for visiting member to all clubs and we look forward to the continued
success of this event.
Winter Golf Programme:
Competitions run in the club over the coming months are as follows:
Monday to Friday - 9 hole stableford re-entry, €4.00 entry, €3.00 re-entry -
Mondays - Open Seniors (over 50's), members €6.00, visitors €12.00 -
Thurdsdays - Open Singles Stableford, members €6.00, visitors €12.00 -
Saturday, Sunday - 18 and 9 Hole Stableford plus Home Alliance.

Tees Open Scramble
A number of competitions will be held duringthe year in order to raise money to finance the re construction of the teeboxes. The first of these will be an Open 2 person scramble whichruns from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th March. Timesheets are now in the club andwe look forward to the members support.

The boys made great progress over the year and several are now 12
handicap and under. We attended 6 open days in other clubs and played 4
matches in the new County Waterford League. We also had our first Open
Day in recent years which 120 boy took part. Golfer of the year was
Brandon Norris aged 12 and now playing off 13 handicap. He won the
Waterford Open with a gross score of 7 over par. Craig Kennington won the
Junior Golfer of the year.
The first Junior / Senior Pairs Competition was held on Saturday last.
This competition was a great success and it is intended to run many more
throughout the coming year. It was won by Ina English and Robbie Power
with Anthony Fitzpatrick and Brandon Norris in Runners Up spot.
