The above paragraph was completed prior to me finished the results and to find that of the 50 cards returned to the score card box on Sunday only 27 were entered into the computer of the remainder I rummaged through and entered two that I felt were in contention. The committee of Carrick on Suir Golf Club can completely understand why members resigned from the Club over the past number of years. The celtic tiger is a distant memory and as a result people are forced to cut back in many areas of life and to seek the best value for scarce resources.

The Committee of the Club have to be very aware of the competition from neighbouring clubs and have to be as competitive as possible. The Committee are now offering membership of the golf club to new members at the following rates

New Members under 35 years of age €350 plus GUI Levy

New Members under 40 years of age €400 plus GUI Levy

Others                                                 €500 plus GUI Levy
 
These rates will increase by €100 each year until the full member fee, at present €650 plus GUI levy is reached.. A former member is considered a new member once two years have elapsed. There are no other levies or entry fees in force.

The Committee would be very grateful if you, as an existing member, could bring this to the attention of  past members whom you are still in touch with as they may consider this offer and we ask that they contact any member of the Committee.

Weather conditions over the past week hampered play as the course was closed for most of the week. It was however open the weekend and available for play but weather conditions were tough in particular on Sunday when very high winds prevailed and as a result competition entries were down

Once again poor weather conditions throughout the past week hampered play resulting in very low competitions entries; however some sixty members managed to enter the 4^th round of the winter league, a round which ends on Sunday next

Note: Winter league and  9 hole competitions as we are using the same colour card for the 9 hole competition and the winter league will you please identify which of the competition on your score card is for and please add the date, do not use the 18 hole score cards.
