Weekend Competitions:
These will be “Open Competitions” and will for the most part take place over the same course as the winter league but with all holes counting. However if ground conditions allow some will be over 18 holes with a possible change of format e.g. a two-person scramble.

These competitions will be re-entry with €6 first entry and €5 for re-entry, Visitors €12 with a €10 re-entry. It is permitted to play the weekend competitions in conjunction with winter league and 9 hole competitions if all are of the same format.

Where competitions are less than 18 holes, your handicap will be that as indicated on the chart provided. Shots to be taken on the lowest indices

Nine Hole Weekly Competition: Turkey Trot
These competitions will run from Monday through to Sunday for Turkey/Ham type vouchers. Entry €4 with a re-entry €3 and can be played in conjunction with other competitions of a same format.

Winter league: (November to March)
Weather conditions will dictate the holes in play during this period therefore it has been decided to revamp this competition. Details of the rules and conditions are now available on the notice board also see details below.

Please note:
In order to qualify to play in the Winter Golf Programme you must have met your payment obligations (payment of club levy & 20% of 2011 - 2012 Subscriptions) as agreed at the EGM, details of which have been well published.

Winter League 2011-2012

Commence in Nov. 2011 and end in March 2012

a) Eight rounds to take place over 8 fortnights.  (14 day’s per round) to accommodate poor weather conditions

b) Individual prizes, for each round, will be given to the first 4 places plus one for gross. Value of prizes will depend on entries received. Penalty points will be deducted as follows: First place –2, Second place – 1 and Gross – 1. These reductions will apply to the player for each subsequent round but will not affect his score for his team. In the event of a tie when any of the three options below are in play, the holes played on the back 9 will first be used then the last 3 on the fornt 9 and so on.

c) Teams of 4 with the best 3 scores from each round to count. Final team total to be the best 6 of the eight rounds. The four leading teams at the end of the eight rounds go into a final playoff for the team first & second prize places. The final will be played over 18 holes. Once again the best 3 cards will decide the winner. The fourth,  will only be used in the case of a count back.

d) Entry to the Winter League is €15 per member to be paid before the first round.  For each round there is an entry of €3 per person, with a re-entry for €3 if one wishes to improve on a return score for their team.  Entries on Thursday, Saturday & Sunday will be taken at the bar.  At all other times, names must be on the sign-in sheet and fees put into envelopes provided.

e) Players must sign-in at the computer prior to commencing each round and on completion must return his score via the computer. Please note there will be a 3-hour delay between sign-in and entering your score, so make sure you sign-in first. Players who fail to comply with this will have their score deemed null and void

f) Score entry: As an 18 hole card will be used and only 9 holes are to count in the League, just enter the score for the holes that count and enter a zero for all others holes.

g) Handicap: For the 9 holes your handicap will be half your playing handicap and rounded up if 0.5 and above.  Shots will be taken on the lowest indices of the holes played. The computer will be set up to cater for the various options (as set out below) that may be in play.

h) Holes To Count In The Winter League: When all 18 holes are in play it will be run over the first 9 holes. However ground conditions during these winter months may require some holes to be closed or rested. Therefore the Winter League may be run over a mixture of holes and can be played in conjunction with any 15, 14, or 13 hole singles competition. The starting holes will alternate between the 1st. & 5th. Designated holes will be provided for the Winter League as per league course options 1) 2) & 3) depending on what tee the round starts from.

Club Match Play Competitions,
Please ensure you complete your matches by the dates as indicated on the draw sheets. The winner of his match must put his name forward to the next round, this to be done as soon as possible follow the finish of the last match.

On-line booking procedure

You should be aware that once this system is in operation (booking to commence on 19th. August 2011 at 12.00am) the existing method of tee time booking will no longer apply.  The only occasion the old timesheet method may be used is for e.g. shotgun start, 9 Hole Mixed and the like; block bookings will be reserved online for those.

When booking a tee time we would ask all members to try and adhere to the times they have always used. By sticking to these old times we do not envisage too many problems. A Member wishing to make a booking for fellow members can only do so for the members in his time slot. We would like to remind members that the system relies on power and telephone/broadband supply, failure of either will render the system void during that period.

 A)  For online booking, go to the club website www.carrickgolfclub.com  on the home page right click on the words Member Booking to open and then follow the easy instructions. To book a tee time you must first register (to register you will need to have your GUI/ILGU 8 digit number at hand for this). It is important to provide an e-mail address as this will allow the system to confirm your booking or cancellation. It is also very important to provide a mobile phone number as the system has the facility to text all members on information concerning the course and other items of interest e.g. course closed due to inclement weather, tee times put back 3hrs, etc

 B)  Booking for competitions will only be available 7 to 8 days in advance and commence at a specific time e.g. 12:00am. The time of 12:00 am will be used for a trial period. Feed/back from members during this period may establish a more suitable time. The Closing time for all bookings will be 7 pm the day before; this will allow for the printing of a time sheet from the system and publishing it in the appropriate places.

 C) If you wish to cancel a booking* this must be done 2 hours in advance of your booked tee time. If however your tee time is before 9.30 am then cancellation must be done the night before. Please be aware that the phone at the club is not always manned.

* Instructions, to Add, Edit or Delete a booking can be found the website booking page

NOTE:
From the 27th August do not start a round of golf at any time without referring to the time sheet for the day. All casual golf must be booked through the on-line system. Members who do not book a time can only avail of vacant slots that may be available on the time sheet.
